FREE Decompression Camps
A minimum of one week, Decompression Camps are provided complimentary, including airfare, room & board, all treatments and activities, for men and women experiencing combat-related stress. These Camps include a customized treatment program for each participant comprised of several proven treatments to help heal combat stress or post traumatic stress with the intent to drastically increase the success rate of healing and integrating these military men and women. Treatments will include but are not limited to, Counseling, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and CranioSacral Therapy.
Each treatment plan, prepared and executed by a selective group of enlisted core certified practitioners, will further be enhanced with Non-Violent Communication (NVC) training, as well as group activities and programs that will stimulate and support the recovery process of these individuals. Adventure sports like kite surfing, wake boarding, mountain biking and kayaking will also be made available to all participants during the program.
Decompression Camps are offered free of charge to selected attendees. Donations are always appreciated.
In addition to these Decompression Camps, HOW aims to provide:
- Community Support – After completion of a Decompression Camp, participants will receive continued support through a local network of established practitioners and local community programs. This local network will accompany the patients on their continued path of healing from combat-related stress and will work closely with HOW to report and monitor the patient’s healing process and assess additional needs. Social and community networks, under the monitor of practitioners or a Director, will be formed for the men and women to lean on and support one another. Once enough individuals have completed the Decompression Camps, we will create a mentor program for new attendees; upon completion of a Decompression Camp we will connect them to a previous graduate in their community to offer continue support at a local level.
- Job Placement Services – HOW will provide an online job posting board for the men and women who complete a Decompression Camp. We will connect them with employers in their respective fields of training or education, help them gain the knowledge and skills to enter a new field or career or provide them with an employer who is willing to invest the time and cost to train. Our job board will connect them with open opportunities on a local and national basis. We will actively find organizations that are recruiting and offer them placement services on our job board.
- Scholarship Program – HOW will offer scholarships or assist in finding or coordinating continued education scholarships (unassociated with the university system). Whether they are through recognized affiliates or training courses provided by other organizations, HOW aims to help these individuals find their passion and help them receive the tools to achieve their goals. To be eligible, individuals will have to have completed Decompression Camps and receive recommendations by the Directors or Practitioners of HOW or by their community.
As our Foundation continues to grow, HOW is committed to providing additional services and adapting current ones to better support the recovery process and growth of these individuals.
